For-The-Wild-Podcast_Ayana-Young_Logo.jpg

Podcast: For the Wild

“With a wide range of diverse and thought-provoking topics, they focus on land- based protection, co-liberation and intersectional storytelling rooted in a paradigm shift from human supremacy towards deep ecology. My two favorite episodes have been Richie Raseda on Dismantling Patriarchy and Adrienne Maree Brown on Pleasure as a Birthright. All episodes I've listened to have forced me to rethink how I've approached the topic beforehand and gave me a deeper understanding and appreciation of the interconnectedness of all things.” – Spencer Turk, 3P Partners, Inc.

Podcast: The Energy Transition Show

“I like this podcast because it is technically sophisticated, or, more colloquially, the most wonky of all of the energy transition podcasts that I listen to. If most podcasts are geared towards the general public or undergraduate-level students, this one is at the expert/graduate level. I also like that it is a paid subscription, which I think keeps the technical quality high, but it also means that I listen to every episode, having paid for the privilege to do so.” – Dan Katzenberger

sustainable mind.jpg

Podcast: A Sustainable Mind

“"A Sustainable Mind" by Marjorie Alexander is a sustainability-focused podcast that covers a variety of topics. The creator created the podcast after not being satisfied with existing podcasts on the topic and am pretty sure it's part of their master’s thesis project. I really enjoyed the latest episode on Angel’s Envy Whiskey's partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation because though I am graduate student, I also manage at a bar and restaurant and have a passion for the food and beverage world's participation in sustainability initiatives.” - Kori Armstrong, University of Southern Mississippi

reset.png

Podcast: Reset

“It's a new tech show hosted by a reporter, former Vice reporter, Arielle Duhaime-Ross. And it really just looks at how technology is infiltrating our lives. It's not a traditional tech show like, oh, what gadget is out? It's all about the unique ways that technology is integrated into our lives. And they do such a good job of spinning a narrative out of different interviews and really tapping into the issues of the day.” - Stephen Lacey, host of The Energy Gang and The Interchange

mid-americana.png

Podcast: Mid-Americana

“It isn’t exclusively about sustainability, but about sense of place, regional identity, and how this is changing (including changes in immigration, climate, agriculture, energy systems, and more). The podcast explores the sort of shifts and stories of place that determine whether middle America sees itself as growing in political and cultural support for sustainability or as the kind of place that fosters resentment and resistance to change. The first season, Homecoming, features stories of native Iowans who moved away and later chose to come back. Upcoming episodes feature interviews with Midwest sustainability leaders in business and agriculture.” – Brian Campbell, Central College

Podcast: The Technoskeptic
Recommender: Susan Legere, Technoskeptic marketing and editorial associate

“I like it because host/founder/publisher Mo Lotman (who happens to be a voice-talent and radio personality) is a great interviewer who asks interesting questions of compelling guests in a pleasing voice.  The scope of the pod and mag are wider than sustainability - he and his colleagues cast a critical eye on the role of tech in all aspects of society and our lives.  But along the way, they tackle many issues (such as industrial farming, environmental citizenship) relevant to any sustainability enthusiast.”

a small acorn.jpg

Podcast: A Small Acorn
Recommender: Amy Johns, consultant

“My son (who is eight) and I are doing a podcast called "A Small Acorn.” It's about the fun and practical things that kids and their grown-ups can do to address the climate crisis.  It's relatively new (we have four episodes out), and we're releasing every other week on Fridays.  We're using "Project Drawdown" as loose inspiration for our topics, and we do a combination of interviews and chatting.  We're trying hard to make it accessible to kids while having enough information to be helpful to grownups as well.”

costing the earth.png

Podcast: Costing the Earth
Recommender: Tiffany Budd, Northern Kentucky University

“I like the BBC podcast for a few reasons. First, the episodes are on the shorter side, less than 30 minutes. I can make it through an episode while getting ready and driving in to work. Second, they discuss a variety of topics, so it’s a great way to learn more. Third, almost every episode shows both sides of the argument for the topic at hand, so it allows you to come to your own conclusion about that topic.”

99% invisible.png

Podcast: 99% Invisible: Dead Cars episode
Recommender: Alexandra Hill, Arizona State Univeristy

“This is one episode on a great series that's not specifically focused on sustainability but often touches on it. This episode (Episode 371: Dead Cars) was so interesting because it talks about what happens when you can't get rid of your waste - it has to stay in your town and you have to live with it or use it. It made me think twice about what I'm consuming.”

Recommender: Kaia Findlay, Campus Energy and Sustainability Podcast

“I enjoy listening to this podcast because the hosts, Anna Jane Joyner and Mary Anne Hitt, are tackling the emotional, spiritual and cultural side of climate change.
